What you get

How it works

  1. Find your flight

Type the flight number (UA 1234, DL 47) or the route (DFW to IND) in the search box. The flight page shows its status today, or pick another day.

  2. Track it

Choose Track this flight. With a free account it's added to your trips, on the website and in the GroundStop app, signed in with the same account.

  3. Get alerts

Turn on notifications in the app for delays, gate changes, EDCTs, cancellations and a late inbound plane, plus an optional check-in reminder.

  4. Share it

Send a live link to whoever is picking you up. It updates as the flight does, and they don't need an account.

Why flights are delayed

Many delays start with the FAA, not the airline: a ground stop holds every flight to an airport at its origin, and a ground delay program gives each flight an EDCT, a later time to take off. The flight tracker checks both for your flight, alongside the airline's own status.

See what's happening right now on the live ground stop map, or read what to do if your flight is affected.

Common questions

Is the flight tracker free?
Yes. Searching flights, tracking them, alerts, check-in reminders and share links are free. You need a free account to track flights and get alerts, so they follow you between the website and the app.
Which flights can I track?
Scheduled airline flights worldwide, by flight number (the airline's two-character code and the number, like UA 1234, or the three-letter ICAO code, like UAL1234), from a week back to a year ahead. Status, gates and delays are live from about two days before departure; further out you see the published schedule.
What alerts will I get?
In the app: when your flight's departure time changes, its gate changes, an EDCT (a departure time assigned by the FAA during a ground delay program) is set, it's canceled, or the plane flying in for it is running late, and as it boards, departs and lands. By email: ground stops and delay programs at the airports you choose.
How is this different from the airline's app?
GroundStop.app watches the FAA as well as the airline: ground stops, ground delay programs, EDCTs and the weather behind them, often before the airline updates your departure time. It also shows where your inbound plane is.
Do I need the app?
No. Everything works on the website, and tracked flights show up in the app when you sign in there. Push alerts, check-in reminders, Live Activities and widgets need the app.
Can I add flights from my booking email?
Yes. Forward your airline's confirmation email from your account's email address to trips@groundstop.app and the flights in it are added to your trips.
