About EDCTs
- What is an EDCT?
- An Expect Departure Clearance Time is the time the FAA assigns a flight to take off when its destination is in a ground delay program or its route crosses an airspace flow program. The flight waits on the ground at its origin so it arrives when there is room.
- Why doesn't my flight have an EDCT?
- Most flights never get one. EDCTs are only issued while a ground delay program or airspace flow program covers the flight, usually a few hours before departure. Ground stops hold flights without assigning an EDCT.
- Can an EDCT change?
- Yes. The FAA revises programs as weather and demand change, and airlines can swap EDCTs between their flights. Check again close to departure, and follow your airline's updates.
- Is this official?
- No. GroundStop.app looks up the flight's call sign and airports and checks for an EDCT. It is unofficial and may be delayed or wrong, so confirm with your airline.
